Appellate Law

Appellate law requires attorneys who fully understand the intricacies and complexities of appellate practice. Persuading a panel of appellate judges is not the same as persuading a jury during a trial. Alane & Chartier specializes in appellate law because of our unique background working as attorneys behind the scenes in the appellate court system, with most of that time at the Michigan Supreme Court. Our combined experience of over ten years working within the appellate court system has exposed our attorneys to a wide variety of practice areas. Moreover, we have been teaching appellate advocacy skills to third-year law students for over a decade. This in-depth knowledge and unique experience make us an excellent choice for appellate advocacy.

Alane & Chartier offers many options for attorneys who seek assistance with an appeal. Beyond the traditional appellate advocacy services we offer, we can work behind the scenes as brief writers for appeals and motions for attorneys who choose to remain the attorney of record in a case.  Further, for those attorneys who choose to handle all aspects of the appeal themselves but who may lack appellate experience, we are available for coaching and consulting on issues related to written and oral appellate advocacy.  We also offer appellate advocacy services to organizations wishing to appear in a case as amici curiae.
